Assistant Professor, University of New Brunswick (Saint John)

David Speed is originally from the Niagara region in Ontario, and attended Brock University for a degree in psychology (Honours). After finishing his undergraduate education, David took a year off to travel and to work, and then headed east to Newfoundland and Labrador to attend graduate school at MUN.

David earned his master’s degree through MUN’s department of psychology and has received extensive education in program evaluation, applied research, and data analysis. David’s interests in health psychology lead him to continue his education by starting a PhD in experimental psychology at MUN. His dissertation addressed the relationship between atheism and health and the effects of literal and symbolic reciprocity on mental well-being. He successfully defended his dissertation and graduated with distinction with a PhD in Psychology.

David enjoys networking with new people and organizations as often as possible. He has worked with the Disability Policy Office of Newfoundland and Labrador, the Leslie Harris Centre, MUN’s Distance Education and Learning Technology Systems (DELTS), MUN’s Office of Career Development and Experiential Learning, Elton Management Consulting, and is now excited to be part of the rural drinking water project.

In his free time, David enjoys playing squash, reading, watching movies, and relaxing.
